A market is developing for sustainability-linked derivatives, which link cashflows on a conventional derivative like an interest rate swap to the meeting of specified ESG objectives, using a set of key performance indicators to measure compliance. While the market is still in its infancy and is highly bespoke, there is demand for standardized terms and clauses in specific areas to support the development of this product. In response, ISDA published the ISDA Sustainability-Linked Derivatives Clause Library. This session will dive into the various standardized clauses and terms available in the clause library, discuss how they can be incorporated into other ISDA documentation, and provide an outlook for the future of this bespoke market.
